Obama Launches War on Small Business

Obama 2012This post is is a touchstone for the election: everything wrong with Obama in a nutshell.

The man has got to go.  When you read his recent comments denigrating the hard work of business owners, you will see why his policies are a total failure.  He is so out of touch with reality, so out of touch with the backbone of America, so out of touch with capitalism, that he can not possibly see the effect of his policies on America.

And if you can’t see the effect, how can you choose a path?

If you can’t see the road before you, how can you drive the economy?

Obama’s comments on Friday were outrageously offensive to people like me who have worked hard our whole life, follow all the rules, and tried to overcome the obstacles stuck in our path by a government that is more interested in collecting money from us than in understanding our needs.  All of that sacrifice and labor, only be told by our President that what we accomplished wasn’t because of our hard work, it was because of the government:

If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

Free money!

Mr. Obama, let me ask you this: Where did the money to build those roads come from? Where did the money to research technology and create the Internet come from? Where did the money to hire those teachers come from? Do you really think that money just came from “the Government”? Are you really that stupid? As stupid as your supporters? Do you think money is free?

Mr. Obama, even when you print the money, it is not free. You do not have a clue how capitalism works, what freedom means, and who pays for all the things you keep buying.

Obama is going to pay my mortgage!

Mr. Obama, are you stupid? Or, are you just pandering for votes? Either way, it is time for you to go. We cannot afford another four years of such offensive behavior, and utter failure.

We cannot afford for you to teach our young people that the only way to succeed is for the government to help; that money is free; that hard work does not result in success. We cannot afford your socialist philosophies and your inability to admit to mistakes and learn from them.

We cannot afford you, Mr. Obama.  We are a rich country, but no one is rich enough to pay your bills.

Mr. Obama, you should have listened to Margaret Thatcher, instead of Frank Marshall Davis.  The problem with Socialism is eventually you run out of other people’s money.

Mr. Obama, you have run out of our money.

Mr. Obama, it is time to go.

The Right Religion

So I’m reading up (again) on Obamacare, in between reading and posting comments on Flopping Aces, and I came across a debate between the Great One and Randy Barnett, as reviewed by Hugh Hewett.  Hugh had an interesting point regarding the reaction of the left to the allowance of exclusions for religious reasons:

Wonder when Citizens United For Separation of Church and State will get around to suing over section (d)(2) ---but of course would run the risk of pulling down the whole law if they win, so they won't because they wouldn't dare upset their allies on the left.

It occurs to me that perhaps I should start a new religion, the Right Religion, wherein we recognize there is a God, and he loves us and he wants us to be happy (Ben Franklin agrees with me so far).  In pursuit of that happiness, we require freedom from certain constraints, especially regarding the choices made in our personal health care.  Thus, allowing us to be excluded from portions of the Obamacare monstrosity.

(2) Religious exemptions
(A) Religious conscience exemption
Such term shall not include any individual for any month if such individual has in effect an exemption under section 1311(d)(4)(H) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act which certifies that such individual is—
(i) a member of a recognized religious sect or division thereof which is described in section 1402 (g)(1), and
(ii) an adherent of established tenets or teachings of such sect or division as described in such section.

imageTaking this further (perhaps too far), maybe we should all think, really hard, about our Right Religion and related matters during any sexual encounters, a type of fantasizing as it were.  If it is part of our sex life, we can then declare the Right Religion to also be a sexual preference.  As such, criticism of our political and religious beliefs would also become discrimination regarding our sexual practices, and we could justifiably request all critics of our religion and our sexual practices to keep quiet so that they do not offend us or stomp on our rights to practice sex and religion without discrimination.

Or, perhaps I am fantasizing.

Drudge has a way of making a point without making any comments, just from juxtapositioning stories that feed off each other to tell a completely different story.

Here’s a snapshot of his page right now.

In case you are curious, here are links to the articles he is referencing:

You have won your freedom.  Now, you need to fight to keep it.

The DNC Endorses a New Tax on… Well, Frankly Anything They Don’t Like

Debbie Wasserman SchultzOk, the last few posts were somewhat facetious, illustrating absurdity by being absurd.

Then again… my point is much better documented and demonstrable than Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s

She is still the Chair of the Democratic National Committee, and she was speaking in defense of the Obama administration, it not unreasonable to assume her words are tantamount to an endorsement of policy direction by the DNC.

I can’t believe anyone votes for these clowns.

The utter lack of intellectual honesty she is exhibiting is astounding.  Wasserman Shultz and the entire Obama administration are still trying to claim Obamacare is not a tax, while the Supreme Court has already ruled this is a lie and the only way to consider Obamacare constitutional is to consider it a tax.

Not content at merely lying, Wasserman Shultz then embarks on a massive expansion of the government’s role into every part of our life.  As long as congress determines any activity is “irresponsible” then, in Wasserman Shultz’s view, congress should tax it.

There is not another way to interpret her remarks during her interview with Wolf Blitzer, when she said the following:

The way we usually think of taxation, Wolf, is that taxation as the IRS administers is collected on broad swaths and large categories of individuals. This is a penalty that will be assessed on the tax return if you choose to roll the dice and make us all pay for your being irresponsible and increase all of our health care costs.

We’re not going to tolerate that any more in America. You have to be responsible and you have to pay a penalty if you choose not to be.

What else can she mean when she threatens IRS enforcement on Americans who “have to be responsible and you have to pay a penalty if you choose not to be”?

She was making this point in trying to justify the “tax” as a “penalty,” and the use of the IRS to collect the “penalty” is just an act of convenience, not of taxation.  Still, there is no way to interpret these comments as other than an endorsement of similar action against any activity she deems as irresponsible.

This is not a slippery slope, it is deadly quicksand, and such thinking will drag this country into the worst sort of hellhole, a bankrupt nanny state.

Everything from condom use (or lack thereof) to fatty foods; from getting pregnant to having an abortion; from being an alcoholic to being unemployed.   All “irresponsible” behaviors are now in the interest of the federal government, and therefore within the power of the IRS to collect “penalties”.

If Democrats get their way, there will be no aspect of life wherein congress, or any future administration, could not make the case that an activity was “irresponsible” and, hence, taxable.

Shame.  They must be defeated in November.  Must. Be. Defeated.
